An Arabian horse

Arabian horses are one of the oldest breeds in history, and they have played an integral role in the founding bloodlines of many other breeds, including the mustang and the American quarter horse. The Arabian horse, and the straight Egyptian Arabian stallion from which it descended is known for its bravery and courage, and for its incredible endurance.

Average size: 15 hands
Average weight: 350-450 kg

The Arabian horse is divided into 5 families: Kuhayalan, Dahman, Hadban, Saqlawi and Mu'niqi. The division is made according to physical characteristics and ancestors.

Arabian horses became very popular in the 80s. This breed is one of the most expensive, prices up to $800,000 are paid. Arabians are not the easiest horses to ride on. They have been used a lot in armed combat and are therefore adept to a wild riding style.

It is perhaps their amazing endurance for which Arabian horses are best known. For many centuries, Arabian horses have called the harsh deserts of the Middle East their home, and they continue to be the preferred mounts of the indigenous peoples of the region to this day.

Of course in the modern world, one is as likely to encounter the Arabian horse in the show ring as in the desert, and Arabians are among the most accomplished and versatile of all modern horse breeds. From western and English pleasure classes to jumping and dressage, Arabian horses are among the most versatile, and most willing, of all equine companions.
